Our strong belief that pets are family too, has led to this extension of our traditional portrait studio. Choosing El Enns Furtography to be your dog photographer is such an honour. It's El's goal to captureWe love all breeds, all sizes, and capturing your fur baby's personality. Plus, we give excellent butt scratches.
We know not all pets are created equal! Some may take longer to get comfortable in their new surroundings, some may be overly excited and need time to calm down, and some may be the perfect model! For these reasons, we do not put any time restrictions on your pet photography session.
Time for your pet's time in the spotlight!
Have multiple fur babies? No problem!
Show your pet some love and we'll capture it!
Please reach us at el@leamingtonphotography.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Upon your arrival to the studio, we’ll let the dog sniff around and get used to all the new smells and surroundings. The humans will chat, and I will ‘pop’ the portrait lights every so often to get the dog used it. Once we agree the dog is ready for photos and not overly excited or nervous, I will start taking photos. I will be asking for your assistance in coaxing the dog to ‘sit’, ‘stay’, etc. on set. Depending on your dog’s obedience level, you may get a workout!
Grooming should be done well before the session date, approximately one to two weeks prior. In case of over-zealous grooming, this will give the fur a chance to grow back to your liking. If you prefer scruffy/au naturale, that’s great, too! We just want to make sure we can see those soulful eyes!
There are stairs down to the studio, so please be aware, especially if your dog is older/cannot be carried and has a fear of steps or trouble navigating them.
It’s also a good idea to have walked/exercised your dog before coming to the studio. This will help eliminate any pent-up energy (for you and your dog!).
We also strongly suggest that extra humans, big or little, not come to the session. The studio has limited space and extra people can be very distracting for the dog.
You are welcome to bring anything your dog particularly loves, whether it be a special toy or treat and will motivate him/her to ‘sit pretty’. We have all natural walleye treats from Taylor Fish, peanut butter, and noisemakers to help get and keep your dog’s attention. We can incorporate a special outfit or prop if you like; we have some dog accessories at the studio as well.
If you are bringing more than one dog, we ask that you also bring an extra dog handler.
We know it’s a lot to ask of any dog to sit pretty for an extended period of time, but patience, a quick trigger finger and treats usually get the job done. I only need a split second to capture your fur baby at his/her best!
Not all dogs are the same; because of this, there is no time limit on your session! Some dogs may take longer to feel comfortable in their new surroundings and there is no pressure. I try to keep everything as loving and easy-going as possible.
We all know dogs are very intuitive creatures and will pick up on your stress and anxiety, so patience is key!
If your dog needs a break, we have a backyard where he/she can romp around, if needed, to release some extra energy.
Absolutely! We love to see the connection people have with their fur babies! There is an additional fee of $75 per human. This covers the extra time spent shooting multiple poses of you and your dog as well as the extra editing of these portraits.
While we specialize in custom canine portraits, we are open to other pet family members!
Unless there are extenuating circumstances, we are shooting in our home studio only.
